FAQ

Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

Referral requirements vary depending on your insurance plan. Please contact your insurance provider or call our office if you are unsure whether a referral is required.

What conditions do your retina specialists treat?

We diagnose and treat macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, vitreous detachments, macular edema, epiretinal membranes, retinal vein occlusions, and other retinal diseases.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your photo ID, insurance information, medication list, referral if required, and any relevant medical records or imaging from another eye-care provider.

Will my eyes be dilated?

Most retinal examinations require dilation so the doctor can thoroughly evaluate the back of the eye. Your vision may be blurry and sensitive to light afterward, so consider bringing sunglasses and arranging transportation if needed.

How long does a retinal examination take?

Appointment times vary depending on the testing and imaging required. Retinal visits are often more detailed than routine eye examinations, so please allow additional time for dilation, diagnostic testing, and your consultation.

What symptoms require prompt attention?

A sudden increase in floaters, flashes of light, a shadow or curtain across your vision, sudden distortion, or an unexplained loss of vision may indicate a serious retinal problem. Contact an eye-care professional immediately if you experience these symptoms.

What treatments are available for retinal conditions?

Treatment depends on your diagnosis and may include careful monitoring, nutritional recommendations, eye injections, laser treatment, light-based therapy, or retinal surgery. Your doctor will explain the appropriate options after completing your evaluation.

What is Valeda® Light Therapy?

The Valeda® Light Delivery System is a noninvasive treatment for qualifying patients with certain forms of dry age-related macular degeneration. A retinal evaluation is necessary to determine whether you may be a candidate.

Do you treat both dry and wet macular degeneration?

Yes. We evaluate and manage both dry and wet age-related macular degeneration. Treatment recommendations are based on the type, stage, and specific characteristics of the condition.

Where are your offices located?

We serve patients from two convenient locations in Garden City, Long Island and Fresh Meadows, Queens.
